The Draft EIS has proposed competitive travel times along the Wolverine corridor compared to driving or taking a flight. The amount of productive time on the train is far superior to a plane or car and a direct downtown-downtown trip is a huge advantage.
Where the current Draft EIS falls short is the proposed schedule, which is focused on full-day trips to Chicago and Detroit. Large gaps in the schedule make day trips between many city-pairs impractical. For example here is the service gap when traveling from Battle Creek-Ann Arbor
The trains need to run at the times passengers need to travel, and as frequently as possible. Frequent Service is needed to serve the needs of communities along the route and capture its full potential.
